TGIF

funny pictures - Lolcats: Forrest Gump Cats

I found this on LOLcats and it made me wonder what sort of a day the recruits are having. Its a friday, so maybe even the drill instructors are taking it easy for the weekend.

Happy Friday everyone! Hope its nice where you are. Dont forget to go see Snow White and the Huntsman and then later this week, Prometheus. Both movies look awesome!

Is My Husband Going to Change?

I had a strange dream last night that has really struck a chord in me and I am sure is a concern for most wives with recruits.

Is bootcamp/The Marines going to irrevocably change my husband? Is he going to be a man different from whom I fell in love with?

I dreamed that when my husband came back from bootcamp, there was a copy of him as well. One copy had all of my husbands best qualities, including his amazing kindness and unfailing devotion. The other was solemn and cold. They were both my husband, but niether were complete. I had to be married to both of them and eventually, in the dream, it tore me apart to try to meet both copies needs.

At this point, I dont know how my husband will change. When I spoke to him on the phone, he seemed mostly the same. He did curse without having a reason to, which is new. But not horrible. I can live with a foul mouth. But that was only after three weeks of bootcamp.

What is three months in the Marine Corp going to send home to me?

Three years?

Thirty?

A GREAT Website for Marine Spouses and Parents

I know I have already posted today, but I just HAVE to rave about this website that I found today. Its called MarineFamilyNetwork. They have a ton of forums for people in all groups. Spouses, parents, girlfriends are all included and there are informational pages for everything.

Best of all...there is an online chat! Every night, there is a chatroom for people to talk and connect concerning their corpsmen.

I highly suggest this website for anyone who is feeling lost and out of their element. The chatroom moderators are beyond friendly and more than willing to answer your questions and make you feel like your part of the Marine Corp family.

So many websites completely ignore significant others of recruits. They cater only to corpsmen which I find hurtful. Our husbands may only be recruits, but that doesn't mean we don't have questions. This website offers support for anyone related to the Marines.

You have to sign up to see any information, but I absolutly think its worth it for access to the forums and groups. No spam so far, so whats the harm? Comparing to most websites, MarineFamilyNetwork has a very easy sign up process. You do have to wait for an approval email though, so just beware. It might show up in your spam folder, but access to this website is worth digging through your garbage for.
